2 large 2 KANZI® apples
2 Tbsp 2 white sugar
1 Tbsp 1 ground cinnamon
1 1 puff pastry sheet, thawed at room temperature for 5-10 minutes
1 1 free-range egg
1 Tbsp 1 water (cool or room temperature)
Icing sugar to serve
Method
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- On clean chopping board, slice apples horizontally through core into slices approximately 5mm thick, yielding about 10-15 slices.
- Use small cookie cutter to remove cores from apple slices, forming doughnut ring shapes.
- Combine white sugar and ground cinnamon in shallow bowl.
- Dip each apple ring into sugar-cinnamon mixture, ensuring they’re evenly coated.
- Using a knife, cut puff pastry into strips roughly 2cm wide.
- Wrap each apple ring with puff pastry strips. You’ll need about 3 strips per apple ring for complete coverage, or 2 strips to leave some gaps. Place each ring onto lined baking tray.
- Lightly beat egg with water, then brush over puff pastry. Sprinkle pinch of sugar-cinnamon on top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until puff pastry turns golden brown in colour.
- Serve immediately, dusted with icing sugar.
