How To Cook The Perfect Steak

A cast-iron pan and meat thermometer are your partners in crime at a good steak out... served at home just the way you like it
By Market Magazine

Step 1

Bring your steak to room temperature. Pat dry with a paper towel.

Step 2

Brush steak with extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt just before cooking.

Step 3

Whether you cook your steak on a grill or in a pan, make sure it’s smokin’ hot. Cook following the guide (below), ‘How do you like your steak?’

Step 4

Transfer to board or plate, gently cover with foil, and rest for half of the cooking time.

How do you like your steak?

The most accurate way to determine doneness is to use a meat thermometer. Make sure that you measure the temperature at the centre of your steak. Use these temperatures for perfect results. Meat thermometers are available in large supermarkets, department stores and kitchenware stores.
